ABOUT JOLOBAYU BARTA

Jolobayu Barta aims to serve as a one-stop platform for all climate change related information in Bangladesh. The objective of this web portal is to enhance the transparency of climate action in the country by delivering pertinent information to different stakeholder groups, especially those most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

The portal intends to provide information on the following:

  • Climate change projects being implemented across the country
  • National policies, plans and strategies on climate change
  • Various events (workshops, seminars, training courses, dialogues etc.) on the topic

Over time, the portal will be developed to become a collaborative platform where various stakeholders can interact with one another to collectively promote improved climate change action in Bangladesh.

ABOUT THE CFTM PROJECT

Jolobayu Barta has been developed under the Climate Finance Transparency Project (CFTM). Initiated in January 2017, CFTM is an innovative project that would not only enable the funding for climate change in Bangladesh to be more effective in helping the most vulnerable communities become better adapted to climate change impacts, but would also help improve the overall levels of transparency in governance in Bangladesh.

GOALS OF THE CFTM PROJECT

The goal of this project is to increase the efficacy of climate change funds both from government and donors in tackling the impacts of climate change in Bangladesh via enhanced tracking and accountability of funds. The CFTM project is an IBP and is funded by PROKAS (Promoting Knowledge for Accountable Systems), an initiative of British Council funded by DFID.

PROJECT PARTNERS

The project is supporting two coalitions of partners to strengthen both supply and demand aspects of climate finance transparency and right to information, particularly through the development of information sharing mechanisms and capacity enhancement interventions, which have the potential to serve as an exemplar to other climate vulnerable developing countries.
